Arthur Hardy 2014
Arthur Hardy, one of New Orleans' premier Mardi Gras experts, throws us a few interesting tidbits about Carnival 2014. Arthur notes that while New Orleans does not have any new women's krewes in 2014, the existing female Mardi Gras organizations have seen their memberships grow tremendously. Arthur describes the secretive nature of many Carnival krewes, including some that never disclose the identities of their kings. For organizations that do share their monarchs' identities, photographs of the rulers appear in the the Royalty Gallery in Arthur's popular magazine,The Mardi Gras Guide. This annual magazine, a Carnival staple that contains extensive information about Mardi Gras' history, traditions, parade routes, throws, etc., is now available in digital form. According to Arthur, "the magazine can now be viewed on hand-held devices". Nevertheless, he is quick to point out that he will never stop printing New Orleans' favorite Mardi Gras Guide.
