Dana Beuhler is a sculptor, painter, and scenic artist. Anyone who has ever enjoyed a Mardi Gras parade has appreciated Dana’s vibrant art pieces; she creates the colorful larger-than-life flowers and other fantastic creations that bring Mardi Gras floats to life. Like most Mardi Gras artists, Dana does her work behind the scenes. Now, she and a group of independent New Orleans- based Mardi Gras float artists have started the Carnival Collective to make their unique creations available to the public. Their art works are available at Miette, located at 2038 Magazine Street, or through the website, www.carnivalartistry.com. The Carnival Collective’s Carnival-inspired art works will be on exhibit at Longue Vue House and Gardens from June 7 through June 30, 2016. Dana and her fellow artists will be present at the opening reception on Thursday, June 9, from 5 to 7 p.m. to meet guests and answer questions. The event is free and open to the public.
