Mark Lewis is president of the Louisiana Technology Council. Mark was a technology leader as far back as 1994, when he started the first company in New Orleans to provide internet access to local businesses. According to Mark, "The Louisiana Technology Council is an advocate for the development of the technology industry across the state". When I asked Mark to define technology, he said: " Technology is defined as using a product or service that can help businesses grow...". Mark tells us that over the last couple of years, New Orleans has been first in the country in information technology job growth, while the state of Louisiana is third in adding technology jobs. Mark also emphasizes the importance of tax credits and incentives to bring technology business to the state. Often, when people think about Louisiana they do not think about the technology industry. However, Mark tells us about a company that just relocated to Covington and you will be surprised to hear where this technology firm was previously located.
