Nell Nolan
Nell Nolan is the social columnist for the Times Picayune newspaper in New Orleans. Nell discusses the historical origins of young ladies' debuts into society, explains who debutantes are, and describes what the New Orleans debutante season entails. In her role as social columnist, Nell has had a unique vantage point on the pomp and ceremony that surround the official introduction of young ladies to New Orleans' society each season. Becoming Queen of Carnival is every debutante's dream; in fact, according to Nell, some parents begin as early as 20 years in advance to position their daughters for consideration to be chosen as Queen of Rex. Nell also shares her insights into how Mardi Gras Queens are selected in this time-honored social tradition.
