Nell Nolan Part2
Nell Nolan is the social columnist for the Times Picayune newspaper in New Orleans. This podcast is part two of a December 3, 2012 interview. In the first podcast, Nell gave an overview of the debutante season that is such an integral part of New Orleans society. In this second podcast, Nell describes Carnival balls and explains what is involved for the debutantes who participate in them. She also offers some insights into the complex logistics that go into staging these memorable Carnival extravaganzas. New Orleans' Carnival season officially begin on the Feast of the Epiphany (January 6), or Twelfth Night. Nell explains the unique process by which debutantes of the Twelfth Night Revelers discover whether they will be maids of honor or become the queen of the ball.
