Philipe LaMancusa co-owns Kitchen Witch Cook Book Shop with his business partner, Debbie Lindsey. The spacious store on Bayou Road in New Orleans carries an extensive array of cookbooks for culinary enthusiasts of all stripes. According to LaMancusa, Kitchen Witch started in 1999 when his daughter encouraged him to open a shop with the large collection of cookbooks he had acquired during his many years as a chef. Kitchen Witch carries about 10,000 individual titles of cookbooks, many of them hard to find specialty or out-of-print books. In addition to offering cookbooks, the popular shop features Philipe Mancusa’s own spice blends and home-made vanilla extract. In this podcast, Chef LaMancusa talks about what makes food exceptional. (Hint: it isn’t the recipe!)
