Stephen Hales
Stephen Hales is archivist for the Rex Carnival organization. He recently wrote a book entitled Rex - An Illustrated History of The School of Design. Stephen points out that Carnival is all about dazzling visuals. As archivist for Rex, in his research Stephen came across many photos that have never been seen by the public. His book is his way of sharing the beautiful and extravagant designs of Rex floats with the world. Stephen explains why Rex was originally created in 1872 and compares those times to our post-Katrina era.
