Sue
Zemanick

Sue Zemanick is Chef at two New Orleans restaurants: Gautreau's and Ivy. Patrons of fine dining have long been fans of Gautreau's on Soniat Street in Uptown New Orleans. The restaurant's elegant atmosphere provides the ideal setting for Zemanick's distinctive culinary style that interweaves classic French techniques with modern American sensibilities and New Orleans flavors. Restaurant Ivy, located on Magazine Street, is a newcomer: it opened in November 2013, and features small dishes. Chef Zemanick has received numerous awards for her outstanding culinary accomplishments. Most recently, the James Beard Foundation recognized her as 2014 Best Chef--South. In this podcast, Sue shares some childhood memories and explains why she took an interest in cooking. Regarding her approach to cooking, she notes, "I am pretty traditional in my style of cooking". Sue also talks about the changing restaurant scene in New Orleans and tells us what types of things she likes to do when she is not in the kitchen.
